Evil eye: a nazar is an eye-shaped amulet believed to protect against the evil eye. In Turkey it is known as the nazar boncuğu; in Persian and Afghan folklore it is called a cheshm nazar (چشم نظر) or nazar qurbāni (نظرقربانی).
